RALEIGH CHRISTIAN ADVOCATE. 13 Wednesday, March 11, 1903. Methodist Orphanage. RALEIGH, N. C. OFFICERS: REV. J. W. JENKINS, -MRS. J. W. JENKINS, MISS LUCY M REEKS. REV. J. B. HURLEY, - Superintendent Matron Teacher - Agent iBSend money to the Superintendent by Check, Post Office or Express Money Order, or Registered letter. The Children's Photograph. Some of the Sunday-schools have requested us to send them the photo graphs of the children that they are supporting, and some ask for an en larged one to hang up in the Sunday school room. They to bear the ex pense. We are always glad to comply with this request. It costs seventy-five cents to have the pictures taken, and some three dollars to have it en larged and framed, or three dollars and a half to have the picture tak en, enlarged and framed. Those schools that-have tried it, like it. We have some promised out, which we will fulfill soon. Our Orphanage School. Our school opened Monday, March 2nd inst. Miss Lucy was on hand in good time and took the reins with "prenticed hand," and things are moving along nicely. The children are taking to her naturally. Here tofore they have been attending the city graded schools. But it was so far off our little boys and girls to walk, and so hard to get them to school in time. Professor Moses, the Superintendent, and the Lady Prin cipals and teachers, were all uni formly,, good, and kind to our fath erless ones, and the children made good' progress. The Superintendent dropped a note to the Lady Principal of the Wiley School informing her of the proposed change, expressing his appreciation of the work done for us in the Wiley School. The follow ing note was received from her, which we hope she will pardon us for inserting here. We were so grateful for it. Raleigh, N. C Feb. 27, 1903. Mr. J. W. Jenkins - Dear Sir: I thank you for your kind note, and the good will express ed in it. It has been a real pleasure to have the children. They are well behaved and diligent. All their teachers speak well of them and are sorry to give them up. It is better to have them taught at the Orphanage for many reasons. I am glad we will keep George. Please say to Miss Reecks that we will be glad to have her visit the school and talk with the teachers about the children's work. We will be glad to have her attend our teach ers' meetings also. We find that Mr. Moses gives us many good sugges tions. I am very 'much interested in the children, and promise myself the pleasure of making them a visit soon. With best wishes, E. A. POOL. Punctuality is the soul of business as brevity is of wit. The grace of courtesy is not the least of life's charms. Nowhere should it grow richer than in the Church of Christ. A smile a hand shake, a kindly spoken greeting, the sharing of a hymn book, invitation to a seat, such little things as these have often gladdened an overburd ened heart, led a life nearer to Christ and been the "cup of cold water" de lighting the heart of the master, brightening the life of the recipient and making the soul of the giver glow with a consciousness of having helped the Christ in His ministry of love to men.
